We had a terrific impromptu Tweetup at Altitude Sky Lounge in the San Diego Tuesday thanks to Twitter.
Gail Goodwin of Inspire Me Today and The Global Hug Tour was in town from Boulder for an amazing David Neagle event on Monday night. On Monday morning, she casually mentioned that it would be fun to meet some San Diego tweeters. Hmmm, could we pull off a party for her on such short notice?
We already had a black tie affair from 5pm-1am Monday night so we’d have to miss the previously schedule San Diego Bloggers event. (Sorry @mattsurfs!). This could also mean that lots of San Diego tweeters would be out on Monday and might not be open to going out on a Tuesday. However, my writing partner here on Twitter Attraction, @alanunderkofler and I started
tweeting about an event downtown on Tuesday evening (even though we didn’t have a location).
Next, we consulted local expert, @downtownrob for venue recommendations and we tweeted the event a few times.
Next it’s Tuesday and we had a full morning of meetings. We didn’t tweet much about the event until the afternoon. However, we tweeted heavily from 4-6 and thanks to lots of retweets, the word spread.
Uber party planner twitter yielded us a fun tweetup of about 36 tweeples and very fun conversations in just 36 hours.
Who needs evite when you’ve got the ubiquitous Twitter?
