San Diego Twestival – Tweet, Meet, Give | Twitter Events

San Diego is a Social Media hub, the twitter, blogger, and Social Media community is one of the best in the country. One of these reasons are for the wonderful Tweetups, Twineups, and social gatherings. Many of these social gatherings also support a local or national charity which makes them even better in my book!

Last year one of these great causes Twestival raised over $250,000 for clean drinking water with a combined effort of over 200 local Twestivals all over the world.

This Saturday, September 12, 2009 San Diego will be gathering on the rooftop of Hotel Solamar in Downtown San Diego as part of Twestival 2009! Square Martini Media (the company behind Twitter Attraction) is one of several proud sponsors of this terrific global event.

What is a Twestival??

A Twestival or Twitter-Festival is a global series of events organized by volunteers around the world under short timescales, which bring people offline for a great cause.

Twestival is run 100% by volunteers and independently from any not-for-profit;

Twestival Local takes place in cities around the world: 10-13 September 2009.

100% of the proceeds will go direct to the selected cause for San Diego, CAMPAIGN FOR ABANDONED YOUTH whose goal is to build a homeless shelter for the many 18 to 24 year olds living on the streets of San Diego. We’re helping raise money for this cause. Please donate whatever you can. We’re happy with even $5 and make sure to watch the powerful video about San Diego homeless youth.

San Diego is one of the 200+ cities across the world hosting a Twestival at the same time to support local causes. And how can you resist the rooftop location, a great cause and Social Media San Diego’s Twitteratti?
